Follow Friday

Define what characteristics your favorite books share:
My favorite nonfiction books introduce me to new concepts or events. My favorite fiction titles must include strong characters, imagination, and good writing. Poor grammar holds the top spot on my list of unforgiveable book peeves.

  1. I agree with your views, too! And you're right, fiction and nonfiction books have different points to meet in order to be my favorites.

  4. I like your views as well. The writing has to be good for us to like the character and see their attitudes!

  9. Horrible grammar in books make me shudder and glare at the pages with disdain. I know that not everyone can be perfect, but I expect my finished purchased books to be near perfect, especially if the book was published from a major publishing house. I'm a bit more forgiving with indie and self-published books, though not by much.

    PS. Returning the follow :)

  10. Oh grammar police.. most excellent. I am the queen of run on sentences but I understand the proper use of a word, to find errors in a book, yeah you are right totally irks me!

  11. Great answer there. Imagination definitely plays a great part in why I pick up a book. Good characters, a strong plot, and (yes please!) good grammar and prose is what makes me stay for the ride.

  14. Hi, thnx for following! Followed you back! (How could I not, after your cute words... :P)

I share your thoughts, especially on the grammar... Even though I'm Dutch and some things will slip past me, most of the time I know a mistake when I see one! ;)
