New Adult is an
increasingly popular genre, and I am thrilled to be a part of the TRUE blog
tour! Erin McCarthy’s TRUE is a
fantastic story about a bookish college student who attracts the attention
of the smoldering bad boy. Their unlikely union develops into a relationship that
suits both of their needs and reveals each individual’s hidden strengths and
vulnerabilities. If you are looking to
get into New Adult, I highly suggest TRUE! I recently read a great interview with Erin on USA Today and am excited to read more of her work!
Erin McCarthy, the author of TRUE, was
kind enough to share some of her favorite and most challenging scenes in the
book to write.
What was your favorite scene to write and why?
When Tyler takes Rory to his house for the first time and then is so embarrassed by what she has seen. We see the vulnerable side of him for the first time and I hope readers fall for him the way I did in that moment.

What was the most difficult scene to write?
It was actually one of the easiest books to write in my career… it just poured out. But writing about Rory’s reaction to their breakup was hard because we all know that terrible emptiness you feel when you’ve lost someone. Walking around alone in the cold was actually something I did when I was getting divorced and it was the most painful point of my life, so I felt for Rory.
What is the most romantic scene in the book (without spoilers!)?
Without spoilers is tough! I’m going to say in the snow and we’ll learn it at that.
Erin McCarthy is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of more
