The Curse Workers series by Holly Black

The Skinny: A captivating series that fulfills every reader’s needs

This series has great writing, incredible characters, and interesting storylines. I highly suggest that you read this trilogy.

In the Curse Workers trilogy, we meet the Sharpe family. They are conmen, persuaders, and negotiators. If The Godfather fell in love with an X-Men character, the result would be The Curse Workers. There are people who are “workers” and possess the ability to manipulate others. Individuals can be dream workers, luck workers, death workers, transformation workers, memory workers, or physical workers. While many workers try to hide their abilities, others embrace their talents and enter the world of crime.

Our main character is Cassel and his observations and humor will tickle any reader. His complicated relationship with his family and their ties to organized crime consume Cassel’s life as he attempts to create a sense of normalcy. Each book in this series has a unique story and combines to create a trilogy that is memorable.

I picked up White Cat by Holly Black after reading a few reviews on Goodreads. After devouring it in one day, I immediately ordered the other two books in the series. Black is a wonderful writer, and our main character has a great voice.

If you are looking for a well-written story, you should read The Curse Workers. It is highly enjoyable.
