Until I Die by Amy Plum

The Skinny: A wonderful and strong sequel that everyone should read

I read Die For Me several months ago, and I adored it. Plum created a story that seamlessly weaves emotion and fantasy into a memorable tale. Our protagonist, Kate, has a great voice and readers will appreciate her bravery and loyalty. When I received an ARC from HarperTeen, I immediately set aside all coursework to take a quick trip abroad.

The setting is Paris, France, and the story is liberally littered with places and attractions that will entice readers to visit the City of Light. Plum’s including real places in her work is my favorite aspect of the novel. She richly describes scenes and places so well that my imagination is saturated with details, sounds, and colours.

As a second novel, Until I Die is successful, and I believe that the writing is even stronger than Die For Me. I loved the banter between the Revenants and the relationships felt natural and realistic.

I recommend this novel for individuals who enjoy reading stories that are set in magical places. If you appreciate good writing, you will love this series. My hopes for the next book include an explanation and a happy resolution. I appreciate Plum’s courageous writing strategy, but I am impatiently waiting to read what happens!
